Inviting the Spirit of Laughter Into Your Daily Life

There are many ways to deepen your experience of joy and light-heartedness, beyond attendance at Laughter Clubs. Prior to participating in unconditional laughter sessions, and learning about the benefits of laughter for your spirit and physiology, you may not have found it valuable to laugh, sing, dance and play. One of the ways to support the movement of laughter flowing through you, is to allow yourself to notice when there are opportunities to be playful in your everyday life, and to intentionally create more of those moments. The following are examples to encourage your creative, playful spirit:
• Put some upbeat music on when you go into the kitchen to make dinner, or when you are cleaning up after dinner. Dance and sing by yourself or with your family.
• Play games; laugh regardless of the outcome! Remember that it’s the play itself that makes us all winners.
• Laugh in your car while you are driving to work or on errands. ("Laughing Laura" has a CD you can purchase called "Laugh Your Way There!". Click here for details.)
• Laugh while you are in the shower, making beds, or washing dishes!
• Make silly faces while in the bathroom, preparing for your day. If you put moisturizer or shaving cream on your face – pretend it’s "laughter cream", and start laughing out loud.
